Career Objectives

I have just completed a B.Tech. Degree in Computer Systems at BCIT, where I specialized in Distributed Systems. I am keen to further my knowledge of distributed systems and object-oriented development in an environment that promotes learning. As a Sun Certified Java Developer with industry experience, I consider Java to be my strongest skill. Having survived a year of living dangerously as a Java Programmer in a ‘dot com’ company, I have experience in Internet software development. I am also a firm believer in the value of teamwork, although I have a proven ability to independently develop an application through all phases of the software development lifecycle.

Funworks Inc.

Website Developer:

September 2002 - present

As part of my responsibilities at Funworks Inc., I made the website functional by

·         analyzing how the website could help the company

·          recommending a scope and architecture for the website  

·         designing and implementing improvements to the website 

·         creating online catalogues using Flip-Album technology.

Sun Developer Certification

Java Developer:

December 2001  - March 2002

As part of the Sun Developer Certification for the Java 2 Platform, I created a client server application from requirements. The Booch Process was used as an object-oriented software development methodology. During the course of the project, I

·         gained insight into all phases of the software development lifecycle

·         did research on Design Patterns and used several patterns in my design

·         created a client server application using Remote Method Invocation (RMI)

·         used an embedded class file server to facilitate dynamic downloading.

Kazootek Technologies

Java Programmer:

February 2000  - February 2001

As part of a team involved in the development and maintenance of a secure e-commerce system, I

·         had experience in designing, coding, testing, deploying and maintaining the system

·         worked with JSPs, servlets, beans, EJBs, Versant, and Oracle

·         helped implement new projects such as ‘multi-merchanting’ and ‘couponing’

·         had special responsibilities for managing builds and deploys using CVS and VSS

·         had experience in development within both the Solaris and NT environments.

As part of a small team involved in the development of a website for a real estate company, I  

·         helped in gathering requirements for the project

·         helped select the appropriate tools and architecture

·         designed and created the database using SQL Server  

·         created a user interface using Cold Fusion.
